Canvas Salon and Gallery presents The Artwork of Richard Christian exhibit opening celebration on Saturday July 16th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Canvas Salon & Gallery located on the corner of Main and Goodrich in the new Willow Square Plaza. Local artist and adjunct professor, Richard Christian, has served many roles over the span of his successful career including Educator, President of the Buffalo Society of Artists, Conservator and Exhibits Designer at GCV&M as well as Conservation Technician at The Strong National Museum of Play.
His intense depictions of mythological imagery encourages conversation and the fine execution and attention to detail in each piece elicits awe.
Artist Statement: While I use world mythologies and classical literature as sources of inspiration for imagery in my work, I am not interested in storytelling in a literal sense. Rather, these familiar stories from my childhood serve as a starting point and an armature upon which I can build as I formally search for what I need as an artist, and as a conduit to deeper passages within myself. It is in this self-exploration that I also examine both my immediate environment and personal experiences, and the larger world and human condition beyond.
The event is free and open to the public. There you will enjoy complimentary appetizers, wine and beer served by The Hollow Bistro and Brew. Meet the artist and get a first view of pieces available for purchase. Richard Christian will be on exhibit at Canvas Salon & Gallery through the end of September 2016.
