The music scene on Main Street last week was unbelievable! It’s so refreshing to see such great participation in both patrons and musicians in local businesses along our beloved section of Route 5. Be sure to check back weekly for our updated schedule of events, and what they have to offer for our local music scene.

Starting out tonight, it’s Tuesday Blues-Day at Murphy Brown’s Craft Beer Empourium with yours truly, AJ “Apple Jack” Tetzlaff. Each week I’m joined by a talented area musician, and this week it’s Shawn Duchscherer. Shawn is a multi-award-winning guitarist, musician and educator. He has toured the east coast with original acts and earned the title of the Best Musician in Buffalo by Art Voice Magazine in 2014 & 2015. You can catch Shawn playing a variety of musical genres – from classical and jazz to blues and rock – as a solo performance or with his bands The Big Sauce Trio, The Other Band and The Gavin Petrie Band. A true raw talent and a must see performer.

While we’re at it, we wanted to give a shout out to The Hollow Bistro and Brew, which has really changed the dynamic of what it means to walk the sidewalks of the Hollow. Katie Yu, daughter of The Clarence Deli’s own Simon Yu, had only just moved back from Chicago when she decided to build upon our community with a truly unique American styled cuisine with its own Asian influences. Katie has recruited the help of her new chef “Marble” out of Pennsylvania to offer a variety of healthy alternatives such as vegan styled entrees for patrons.

The Hollow Bistro now features a new banquet room, torch-lit outdoor patio, local beers on tap, fine wine list, and of course our favorite, local music! Tuesdays and Fridays will now include a variety of weekly acts as well as the first Saturday of the month hosting a Jazz Brunch!

For September the Jazz Brunch would have fallen on Labor Day, and therefore it has been moved to September 10th from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Tuesday night entertainment begins at 6pm which happens to conveniently overlap their 4-7pm happy hour. Grab a specialty martini or house made sangria and enjoy the show!
