Oinktoberfest Headlines Main Street Music Calendar For September 20-26th

Hear it is again – another Tuesday edition of the weekly music blog. With Fall upon us and back to school chaos winding down it’s the ideal week to get out there and discover Main Street Clarence. We have some very exciting acts to bring to your attention, and top on our list is Oinktoberfest, which runs October 23-25 on the grounds of the Great Pumpkin Farm at 11199 Main St in Clarence.

for-noel-12Okay, so Oinktoberfest bills itself as the longest continuously running BBQ competition in New York State, and we’re not disputing that. But while you’re checking out this year’s theme of Asian BBQ (or as they like to say, East Meats West), it will be hard to miss the music. Because there is a lot of it.

The show kicks off Friday evening with Miller and the other Sinners at 6pm. Saturday and Sunday, it’s two stages of continuous music, with eleven bands taking the stage during the weekend. A full listing is below. Suffice it to say I will be gracing the stage Saturday afternoon with my good friend Shawn Duchscherer. redding-and-woodworth

Tuesday Blues-Day at Murphy Brown’s Craft Beer Emporium has been shaping up to be the best unknown secret blues jam in the area. As an acoustic blues jam you’ll find the volume is ideal for a small setting, yet the music unbelievable. This week AppleJack Blues is featuring Nick Redding with his John Mayer like noah-mosesvocals and never ending talent on his jazz-funk infused style guitar, the charismatic Mark Woodworth on bass, and Rock The Barn’s most talked about harmonica talent Noah Moses. When this kind of talent gathers in one place it becomes something special.

The Hollow Bistro and Brew also presents two nights of music this week. Garrett Shea kicks off our Tuesday evening with his acoustic talents. Then Zak Ward kicks off our weekend with his acoustic charm. Zak’s work in “The Starve Sessions”, a podcast of local music, showcases his beautiful song writing capabilities and wide vocal range. For a preview of his talents click here. Garrett and Zak are very entertaining, and we at Discover Main Street love what kind of talent The Hollow Bistro and Brew is bringing in.

Finally, from the “this just in” category: Penny Lane Café just announced The Little little-mbMountain Band who will be performing from 8pm until midnight Saturday September 24th! The Little Mountain Band is comprised of Lead vocalist Aaron Ziolkowski, Bass extraordinaire Donavan Cudmore, keyboard Adam Schmidt, lead guitar Drew Azzinaro, and drummer Bene Torres. The amount of talent in this band is remarkable. If you have not heard Drew Azzinaro on guitar before then this is a must-stop destination. Aaron Ziolkowski is not only a great friend, but he is a truly gifted vocalist with a one of a kind raspy voice that cannot be replicated. The music offered by the band lies somewhere between bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock, and jam band. With so much on the menu of music this week in Clarence we can’t expect everyone to catch all the events. I, however, will not miss this one.
