The Resurrection of Live Music

club-flyersThere was a time when a Friday night meant gathering up the gang to head to the local watering hole because the flyers on everyone’s windshield said one of the top bands in town was gigging that night. The place would be packed, and everyone knew every song, because that was the culture; music. In recent years this culture has declined with much speculation as to why, but with the addition of new local music venues like Penny Lane Cafe, or Murphy Brown’s we’ve seen the live music scene reemerge! At Discover Main Street our goal is to bring to you the inside scoop as to where these performances occur, and keep this live music resurrection onward towards its success.bob_sch

Penny Lane Cafe has a very attractive music lineup this week. Thursday night they host an inaugural Trop Rock Party. What’s a trop rock party? It’s a tropical gathering to celebrate the sounds of the Carribean. Have yourself a Pina Colada, and wear your best Hawaiian shirt! Not a fan of pineapple and coconut? Penny Lane has perhaps one of the best margaritas in town. As the owners are tequila aficionados, we’d expect nothing less! Live music will include Bob Schiele of Beach front radio, Duane Teston, Richard Mansell, and AJ Tetzlaff.

mike_c2Our featured musician is also scheduled to perform at Penny Lane Cafe. This Friday you can catch Mike Casinelli from 7 to 10pm. Mike is an incredible talent who combines his unique Allman Brothers like lead guitar capabilities with his raw singer songwriter acoustic style. As talented as Mike is, we feature him not solely based on his musicianship, but on his recurring weekly performances at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Having survived a life threatening ailment himself, Mike gives back to the Roswell patients by volunteering his talents in an attempt to lift the spirits of others with live music in which he claims has helped his own healing as a patient. This community embraces Mike Casinelli with open arms, and we’re excited to have him this Friday night!
