It may have been a cold, wet summer, but that’s long forgotten as two months of unseasonably warm, mild weather have turned Main Street in Clarence into a fall playground, and nowhere more so than The Great Pumpkin Farm (11199 Main Street).
Long lines of traffic have snaked through the Clarence Hollow as families made their annual trek to the Fall Festival in search of the perfect carving pumpkin and harvest-themed activities. And why not? So far this year we have seen events the Oinktoberfest BBQ cookoff, a chart-topping 1,971.5-pound pumpkin (a New York State Record) take the weigh-off, and everyday fall fun like the pyramid of pumpkins, the petting zoo, the haunted barn face-painting and a 5-acre corn maze.
The fun continues today the World Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship. If you just can’t get enough of that pumpkin spice this time of year, you may want to register – but be warned: last’s year’s winner Molly Schuyler was crowned champ after consuming 42 pieces (yikes!) in 10 minutes.
One recent addition to the Pumpkin Farm is decidedly NOT for the youngest of us – The Witches Brew. Opened just last year and expanded this year, the Witches Brew features Halloween-themed drinks, music and activities. That live music continues today with Honest Penny performing at noon.
The Great Pumpkin Farm is open every day from 10am until dusk through October 31st.
