Clarence, NY – It’s that time again. Western New York music lovers will be converging on the Big Yellow Barn at 9015 Main Street in Clarence and helping to raise money for one of the area’s most beloved charities.
National tribute bands Face To Face (Elton John and Billy Joel) and Bon Journey (Bon Jovi & Journey) will be electrifying audiences in Clarence on July 20-21st at the 14th Annual “Rock the Barn” – a two-day music festival supporting Meals on Wheels. The previous 13 efforts have helped raise $685,000 for the Clarence-Newstead Meals on Wheels Task Force, Inc., which provides funding for Meals on Wheels services in Clarence, Akron and Newstead.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and are good for both days. Tickets can be purchase at all Dash’s Markets locations or online at: www.rockthebarn.com. The event takes place rain or shine, but this year’s forecast looks rain-free.
Rock the Barn has become a major community affair in Clarence. What originally started out as a barn dance featuring Zydeco band Blue Sky Mission Club back in 2005 has blossomed into a two-day festival the past six years, attracting thousands of attendees each year. The concert is held on the grounds of the Big Yellow Barn at 9015 Main Street, making it a truly unique event venue.
While the essence of Rock the Barn is music, there are many more aspects including local food vendors serving mouth-watering food, a beer tent, raffles, a children’s craft area and more. A second stage was added in 2016, as the event continues to evolve and grow.
Proceeds from the previous Rock the Barn concerts have helped the Task Force amass over $685,000 in its endowment fund – more than two-thirds of the way towards their $1,000,000 goal. Funds from the endowment are used to support Meals on Wheels routes in Clarence, Akron and Newstead.
From their distribution point at the Clarence Senior Center, Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver over 25,000 meals a year to over 130 recipients on seven routes.
