A Saturday Bike Stampede is a version of the Monday Slow Roll that takes place in the suburbs. This is going to be a fun group bike ride at a party pace, a bit longer than a Monday night roll. We’ll be following traffic laws while showing community support for a bike-friendly Main Street, and we’ll also feature some uniquely Clarence neighborhoods and scenery.

As with all of our Slow Roll events, the Bike Stampede will feature Kickstand Kolsch – an easy-drinking beer brewed by West Shore for Discover Main Street. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Kickstand Kolsch will help fund future FREE bike events and bike infrastructure as we continue to promote a bike-friendly Main Street. If craft beer is your thing, we hope you will give Kickstand Kolsch a try.

The west Shore Fall Bike Stampede is the last of three planned rides in partnership with Slow Roll, and returns us to the site of last year’s bike stampede, which drew in hundreds of cyclists from all over Western New York. Clarence has become a hub for Slow Roll, with Main Street venues Murphy Brown’s, Brennan’s and now West Shore helping build the largest Slow Roll series outside the City of Buffalo.

Outside of a fun, free and healthy outdoor activity, the continued strong turnouts at these events are a key indication of community support for a bike-friendly Main Street. And local and state governments are listening.

After last year’s events, the Town of Clarence subsequently adopted the Vision: Main Street plan that includes bike lanes along the entire length of Main Street. In the coming days, the first three miles of lanes will be striped by New York State DOT from Transit Road to Sheridan Drive. Bike lanes are also expected to be a part of next year’s micro-paving project planned for Sheridan Drive from Transit Road to Main Street.

Stampede-Parking-Map

West Shore Brewing company is located at 10995 Main Street, near the corner of Davison Road and next door to Antique World. Thanks to Antique World, we will once again have plenty of parking available directly adjacent to the brewery. Tip of the hat to you Kelly Schultz!

Even so, it will be still be much smaller than the Monday night rides in the City of Buffalo that routinely draw well over a thousand riders. The result will be all the fun of a group ride at a size well-suited to move smoothly along the ride. Orange-shirted volunteers from Slow Roll Buffalo’s Squad will be managing the ride to keep the ride together, help riders avoid hazards and help keep everyone on the planned route.
