Grass roots efforts by cyclists are paying off in Clarence. If you want a measure of how bike-friendly our Main Street and Town has become, look no further than the Clarence Hollow Farmers’ Market.

Today marked the season opening of New York’s first Rails-to-trails Farmers’ Market, and Discover Main street was on hand for the first of our Market Rides group bike rides. The 11.3 mile route treated riders to views of the Town Park, Tillman Road and made a short jaunt into Akron before returning to the Clarence Hollow. Today’s ride was led by Saris Rep and Town of Clarence Cycling Advocate Melany Arrison.
The 18 week ride series meets each Saturday at 8:30 for a group ride starting at 9. The rides are suitable for riders of most abilities (although this is Clarence and there may be a climb or two along the way).

Discover Main Street is also hosting a bike-friendly tent at the Farmers’ Market, promoting upcoming activities and offering bike-advocacy groups an opportunity for outreach.
In addition to Market Rides, Discover Main Street is also partnering with Slow Roll Buffalo for two Friday Night Pedal Parties, the first being held June 14th at West Shore Brewing Company and then a July 12th return to the location that brings out the biggest weekend Slow Roll crowds in Western New York – Murphy Brown’s Craft Beer Empourium.

We are super excited about the support that we saw at today’s opening event and look forward to continued outreach as the summer progresses.
