Murphy Browns Hosts Friday Slow Roll Pedal Party

One of the most unique events on the Clarence Summer Calendar returns to the place it started this Friday July 12th (Meet at 6pm ride at 7pm) as Slow Roll Buffalo and Discover Main Street present a FREE and inclusive Friday Night Pedal Party hosted by Murphy Brown’s Craft Beer Empourium, 9500 Main Street at the corner of Main and Goodrich.

A Friday Night Pedal Party is a version of the Monday Slow Roll that takes place in the suburbs. This is going to be a fun group bike ride at a party pace, a bit longer than a Monday night roll. We’ll be following traffic laws and riding in support of a bike-friendly Main Street, and we’ll also feature some uniquely Clarence neighborhoods and scenery.

The ride will return to Murphy Brown’s around 8:30pm for an afterparty including great craft beer from Murphy Brown’s, live music with Riverdog Blues Band. Food trucks Carnivorous and Akron’s Farm to Table Truck will be on hand to handle your appetite.

Friday’s Pedal Party will mark the seventh time Slow Roll Buffalo has visited Clarence, and a return to the site of their very first visit back in 2017. The weather was great, the beer was flowing and over 500 cyclists from all over Western New York met up at Murphy Brown’s for what at the time was the largest Slow Roll every outside of the City of Buffalo.

Clarence has developed a reputation inside the Slow Roll community for great rides and a bike friendly atmosphere, and these turnouts have helped to demonstrate community support for a bike-friendly Main Street. The Town of Clarence has continued to respond with support for bike infrastructure, working with the New York State DOT to ensure bike lanes are a part of several re-striping projects. Last fall, the first three miles of lanes were installed by the DOT from Transit Road to Sheridan Drive. This summer, a project to add a turning lane to Sheridan will add further connectivity by adding bike lanes from Transit Road to the Main Street commercial district.

While this year’s Pedal Party is expected to again draw several hundred cyclists, it will be still be much smaller than the Monday night rides in the City of Buffalo that routinely draw well over a thousand riders. The result will be all the fun of a group ride at a size well-suited to move smoothly along the ride. Orange-shirted volunteers from Slow Roll Buffalo’s Squad will be managing the ride to keep the ride together, help riders avoid hazards and help keep everyone on the planned route.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our local community. We’d like to thank the following businesses and supporters who are helping make this FREE EVENT possible:
